The Monthly Mid-Week Eucharist is held on the second Wednesday of the month. During the school term, when the church Mainly Music program is operating, the mid-week service is held at 11am after Mainly Music has finished, but outside the school term the service is held at 10.30am. It is a service of worship where the congregation both joins the priest in prayer to give thanks and praise to God, and shares in the sacrament of Holy Communion by receiving the elements of bread and wine, which represent Christ’s presence among the congregation.
The service enables the congregation to listen to (and reflect on) the Word of God, through several readings from both the Hebrew Bible (the Old Testament) and the New Testament, which are expanded and expounded on by the priest through a short homily. Prayers are offered for the world and the Church by the priest who offers prayers on behalf of all. The service is followed by morning tea in the John Steele Room.
